Jimmie Ross, age 81 of Grenada died Saturday, February 6, 2012 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 9th at Providence Baptist Church near Gore Springs. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Providence Baptist Church with Bro. Joey Faulk officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Cemetery at Rosebloom with nephews serving as pallbearers.
Jimmie was born on October 29, 1939 in the Pea Ridge community and was the son of the late Jim Dave and Sarah Lee Tilghman Ross.
Jimmie was employed by McQuay in the maintenance department. He was part of the original group of employees. Jimmie was a graduate of John Rundle High School in Grenada. He was the owner of the Green Door Bait Shop and Tavern. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church and also a member of the Zero Hunting Club. Jimmie was also a veteran of the Army National Guard. He enjoyed cooking at the 333 Restaurant and at the Zero Hunting Club.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Douglas Ross, Alvin Ross and Wesley Ross.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Ross of Grenada; one daughter, Allyson Ross Worsham and her husband, Cary, of Grenada; three sisters, Nancy Bratton of Olive Branch, Leona “Sissy“ Pierce of Grenada and Ellen Keene of Grenada; three brothers, Melvin Ross, Charlie Ross and Steve Ross, all of Grenada; two grandchildren, Autumn Worsham Day and Emerald Ross; and four great-grandchildren, Gabe Day, Levi Day, Isabella Day, and Priscilla Ross.
