Funeral services for Virginia Marter Robbins, 82, of Grenada, are at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at the National Funeral Home Chapel with Bro Jimmy Martin and Bro. Brian Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Yalobusha County.
Visitation is Monday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at National Funeral Home.
Virginia died Sunday, June 8,2014 at her home.
She was born in Charleston, Mississippi on April 21, 1932 and was the daughter of Cecil Talmadge Marter and Willie Spears Marter.
Virginia was employed by B&H Towing as a tow boat cook for 33 years. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Virginia loved flowers and cooking. In 1966, she went on her first mission trip to Honduras then later to Brazil.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; one step-son, Jimmy Partridge; and two grandsons, David Robbins and Daniel Janes.
Virginia is survived by four daughters, Teresa Pryor Brooks of Grenada, Evelyn Pipkin of Batesville, Ellen Robbins of Tuscumbia, Alabama, Janice Simpson of Piggott, Arkansas; one step-daughter, Carrie Gregg of Slate Springs; two step-sons, Robert Robbins of Houston, Mississippi and Gary Robbins of Tuscumbia, Alabama; one sister, Katherine Crutchfield of Calhoun City; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
