Funeral services for Sue Helen Counts Schoolfield, age 77, of Holcomb, are at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Mortimer National Funeral Home in Grenada with Bro. James McElroy and Bro. Jimmy Hood officiating. Burial will follow in Sparta Cemetery near Holcomb. Pallbearers will be Bob Hood, Hugh Pigg, Mike Mabry, James Ray Mitchell, Kenny Mitchell and Tim Mabry.
Visitation is Thursday from noon to 2 p.m. at Mortimer National Funeral Home.
Sue passed Sunday, April 23, 2017 at UMMC-Grenada due to complications caused by diabetes.
She was born in Carroll County on May 6, 1939 and was the daughter of Frank James Hood and Opal Brown Hood.
Sue was a devoted wife to Joseph Wilson Schoolfield of Grenada and a beloved mother to four children. She was a member of the Grenada Church of God.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Howard Lee Counts, Sr. and Joseph W. Schoolfield, Jr.; one daughter, Donna Jean Counts; one sister, Fannie Mitchell; and three brothers, John Willie Hood, Sam Hood and Bill Hood.
She is survived by one daughter, Debra Counts Pryor of Grenada; two sons, Jeffrey Counts of Grenada and Lee Counts of Holcomb; one sister, Mary Mabry Dixon of Holcomb; two brothers, James Archie Hood and Bobby Wayne Hood, both of Holcomb; four grandchildren, Stephen James Pryor, Ashley Counts, Blair Opal Counts and Alexis Spearman; and two great-grandchildren, Laila Pryor and Summer Pryor.
