Funeral services for Robert Charles Gilley, age 89, of Olive Branch are at 2 p.m., Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Mortimer National Funeral Home Chapel in Grenada. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada.
Visitation is Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mortimer National Funeral Home.
Robert died Tuesday, April 5, 2017 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
He was born on July 28, 1927 in Prentiss County, Mississippi and was the son of the late Frank M. Gilley and Ora Mae Timbes Gilley.
Robert worked as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement. He was a member the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in both World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Catherine Hill Gilley; and two sisters, Nell Bell and Annie Mae Jones.
He is survived by two daughters, Mary Catherine Baier of Olive Branch and Robbie Mae Gilley of Ocala, Florida; one sister, Ester Lee Sturdivant of Rossville, Georgia; three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
