Subscription Update Obituary

Mr. O.C. Davis, age 79, of Southaven, passed away Friday, August 28, 2020 at the State Veterans Home in Oxford.

He was born on February 26, 1941 in Booneville and was the son of the late O.C. Davis, Sr. and Emma Collins Davis. He was a graduate of John Rundle High School in Grenada, Homes Junior College and Delta State University. After graduating from Delta State, Mr. Davis went to Jasper, Florida as a teacher and baseball coach. In his first year as coach, the team won the State Championship. He later went to Southaven as a teacher and football coach and led their team to win several Chickasaw Conference titles. Mr. Davis ultimately received his masters degree from Memphis State University and worked in the Shelby County School system as a teacher and football coach until his retirement after 30 years. He also served in the National Guard and U.S. Army Reserves.

Mr. Davis is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Davis Moore of Lake Cormorant, Mississippi; two grandchildren, Caroline Moore Lambert and her husband, Ben, of Hernando and Alex Moore of Hernando; and two great-grandchildren, Daxton Moore and Della Lambert.

Graveside services are at 10 a.m., Monday, August 31, 2020 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada, Mississippi.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officer’s Association, P.O. Box 534, Southaven, MS 38671.
