Funeral services for Laura Childers Travis, age 97, of Grenada, are at 3 p.m., Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the Way of Life Ministries. Burial will follow in Grenada Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Pastor Chris Owensby, Dr. Charles Travis, and Chaplain Don Childers.
Visitation is Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Way of Life Ministries.
Laura died Friday, February 24, 2017 at UMMC-Grenada.
She was born on November 12, 1919 and was the daughter of the late J.C. Childers and Mamie Linebarger Childers of Ripley, Mississippi.
Laura was employed by E.R. Moore Cap and Gown as a seamstress and was also a homemaker She attended Way of Life Ministries.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Truman Travis; two sons, Jimmy Travis and Steve Travis; two sisters, Emily Ward and Vivian Carter; three brothers, Eli Childers, Hardy Childers and James Childers; and one grandchild.
She is survived by three daughters, Jo Ann Blanton (Pete) of Grenada, Donna Vickers (Chris) of Grenada, and Oma Sellers (Tommy) of Hardy, Arkansas; two sons, Dr. Charles Travis (Deborah) of Jacksonville, Florida, and David Travis of Madison; one sister, Carlene Croft of Prescott, Arizona; two brothers, Chaplain Don Childers (Loretta) of Blytheville, Arkansas and Joe Childers of Kemp, Texas; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; four great-great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
