George W. Mullen, Sr., age 97 of Grenada died Saturday, January 9, 2021 at his home.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, January 14, 2021 with burial following at Sparta Cemetery near Holcomb.

George was born on October 29, 1923 in Holcomb, Mississippi and was the son of the late Amzie Wilson Mullen and Susie Clark Mullen.

George was employed by Mississippi Power and Light as a serviceman until his retirement. He was a member Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada. George was also a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 4488.

George was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 62 years, Mamie Jean Parker Mullen; three sisters, Evelyn Fredrick, Grace Harris, and Sue Williams; and three brothers, Louis Mullen, Hal Mullen and Oliver Mullen.

He is survived by three daughters, Debra Jean Mullen Truesdale (Fred) of Iuka, LaDonna Grace Mullen Worthing of Hernando, and Elizabeth Ann Mullen Karr (Phillip) of Lake Orion, Michigan; one son, George Wilson Mullen, Jr. (Audrey) of Grenada; seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sparta Cemetery, 8074 Sparta Road, Holcomb, MS 38940.
