Funeral services for Carolyn Murphy Simmons, age 74, of Scobey, are at 2 p.m., Friday, October 13, 2017 at Mortimer National Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery at Tillatoba.
Visitation is Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mortimer National Funeral Home.
Carolyn died Monday, October 9, 2017 at her home.
She was born on November 4, 1942 in Sweetwater, Texas and was the daughter of the late Thomas Houston Murphy, Sr. and Clyde Cunningham Murphy.
Carolyn was first and foremost a homemaker, raising four daughters. When she wasn’t busy at home, she worked at Pennaco Hosiery Mill, in the cafeteria of the Grenada County Schools and at Rosemont Personal Care Home. She was a member the Zion Grove Church of God of Prophecy.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd Simmons; and one brother, Joe Earl Murphy.
She is survived by four daughters, Tina Winters, and her husband, Tim of both Greenwood and Fulton, Cheryl Harbin and her husband, Kenneth, of Scobey, Lynn Winters and her husband, Stephen, of Scobey, and Toni Cook and her husband, Danny, of Busy Corner, Mississippi; two brothers, Donald Wayne Murphy of Bandera, Texas and Thomas Houston Murphy, Jr. of Alabaster, Alabama; fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
